Wall-to-Wall with Isaac Dealey

    Hey thanks Sam! :D

When you say "indie" do you mean Indiana Jones? You talking about the Vanishing Pointe strip?

I just published this one about the Twilight Saga today that's been pretty well received... I figured it would be fairly popular, but I didn't expect it to be nearly this popular. ;P

Why would I mind free publicity?!

What's your account on Twitter? I don't think I'm following you... I'm @DataFaucet . (The name is from my software engineering career.)

And which comic? Was it the Apple Lifestyle thing or the Shark Week thing?

Anyway, yeah, would be sweet if Fallon forwarded it.

    Thanks Sam! :D

I have a copy of Adobe Creative Suite 4 and mostly I use Illustrator for doing the line work and then Photoshop for colors.

Honestly I spend a lot of time working on them. They look so good primarily 'cause I put a few hours into every page or every image. I have the impression most people spend less time on the art -- say 30 minutes to an hour, maybe 2 hours tops... meanwhile I'm spending a day to two days on most of my pages or strips. Granted it does vary -- when I have a single-panel idea for Woohooligan, sometimes I can knock the art out faster. Maybe one of these days I'll get better at it and find a way of getting these multi-panel pages for Cashing In done faster. I hope anyway.  I am at least able to reuse some of the lines for various characters in Illustrator and the more pages I do the more material I have that I can reuse, so hopefully that will continue to speed me up.

Although I'm also still refining my style, so the look for these characters is gradually changing too... and that hampers my ability to reuse older art.

thanks, hope everything will be well, how do you get your comics so nicely drawn? sometimes my graphics programs get on my nerves, btw much better than those i have seen, (encyclopedia dramatica) for one.

Thanks Sam! :D Sorry for the delayed response...

I've been pretty busy recently and haven't paid much attention to this site lately... Been spending a lot more time on DeviantArt, promoting my comics... I started doing a new one a month or so ago -- my first attempt at an ongoing story -- http://cashingin.webcomic.ws. So far folks seem to be really enjoying it. :D Oh and I finally got my divorce finalized after 10 years and my child support went from $10k arrears to $0 overnight! Woohoo! Thank god for good attorneys! And I'm on disability now for the time being. Waiting on some tax issues to get cleared up -- mostly waiting on the IRS to get back to us. Once that's done, then I'll be getting back to working on the AutLabs business. :D

How have things been on your end?

you know what about online promotion, search engines and more, there's really no shame in shameless self promotion! I love all those great bookmarking sites, link directories like dmoz.org and sharing links with other likeminded (ie programmers and etc) individuals. :) I am learning this myself and I see alot of "SEO" stuff! :) I am learning subdomain parking for myself, i'm low on cash so that's where i planted my little sites. There's a linkedin social networking site where you can have a business profile and more. (don't forget the yellowpages because people can get your help locally)  I really need to catch up on all of those things. I have blogs on a adsense revenue sharing site, it's not good enough for great stuff. I am trying to get used to my article blogging on associated content.  I usually write about three paragraphs with four sets of sentences and have bad issues with clauses and grammar, i'm learning to discipline myself into it though. I'm thinking of starting an autism site with information and tools. I want to link other auties into it. That will create a group for others to get envolved, once i get a subdomain parked and seooed, i think maybe i'll buy webhosting.  You are great, and have worked very hard at what you've done. Don't forget to keep going and keep it up because the results are so much better.  I kept writing articles about anoop desai on associated content and people listened so "if you build it they will come" :)  I hope i am not too long winded, i love to help so much, hope you have a great day! You have so much to give to so many people and you can do it! :)

Let me know if there's any way I can help with the blog, etc. by the way. If you need advice / suggestions, or just want someone to kick an idea around with. Something that's been really helpful to me in building the AutLabs project is reading a book titled Yes! 50 Scientifically Proven Ways to Be Persuasive. You may also find it helpful in building readership for your blog. :)

Thanks, when it comes to being autie things can get difficult and having support makes it great! Have a good day!

Sounds like a good plan! :) Good luck, I hope you're able to get a lot of readers and the ad revenue is helpful. You certainly seem fluent enough and dedicated enough to do a very good job with it. :)

i am trying to get my website up and going, it's a writing site, and I thought of writing a blog. I have several where i write about free software, I need to write a really good blog and add adsense too it. A niche blog sometimes brings pocket change. I  am thinking wordpress and google adsense.

Thanks Samantha! :) Hope everything is well with you. The project is going great -- I posted a new screen-capture of the site traffic a day or two ago, showing more steady growth. I need to send out a few more personal requests for people to write blogs about it, though. That's an important element in our word-of-mouth marketing. Do you have a blog? :)

I've thought about it... In the world of web-based, server-side software like ColdFusion (which usually creates HTML + CSS) what a lot of companies do is create a demo server where people can log in with dummy accounts and fool around on them. It at least gives people a feel for the software, but the lack of structure in presentation may lead to lackluster uptake. Some other companies go another route and have people sign up for demos where everyone logs in to an online presentation site and then they get to watch a company rep "make it look easy" for them. :) My guess is that this is a more effective marketing strategy, but as an individual I've always been underfunded so it's not really been an option for me in the past. This of course is changing now with AutLabs taking off so we'll be looking at these kinds of options soon. :)

I'm also unsure actually about the products we'll be selling -- I chose software because I have both experience and intellectual property, but my experience may be different from the experience of other team members. So as we solidify the effort more, we'll discover if there are any other engineers like myself signing on who want to contribute their own intellectual property as well. That would help to broaden our offerings, but we need to be careful that we're able to manage all the products we take on. If a guy comes in and he's like me but he's been doing C++ for the past decade and he's the only guy on our team doing C++ (I have done it, but not very much and I generally stay away from it), then we may need to have some challenging discussions about whether or not we can really take on his C++ product or if maybe we need to postpone it or something.

But anyway... I shouldn't bore you too much with the details. They are of course still developing.

    Thanks Samantha! :)

You are welcome! Cold fusion sounds really difficult, i have a hard time editing html and css to create a website. I think you are a very encouraging person in autism and others need to see your samples and work! Have you ever thought of submitting samples to companies so they can see your goodies? :) That's a great way to get business!

Oh and thanks for submitting the "reason" on the autlabs site. :) once we've got a decent queue of them then we're going to display them on the home page and rotate them. :)

Y'know, I'm not a big fan of music on the web, but... I LOVE your playlist... Seems like most folks have forgotten Don't Dream It's Over -- is that a cover or did Sixpence to the original and I didn't notice? Ahh well... Enya, Indigo Girls, Enigma... awesome stuff. :)
